Exploring the Great Outdoors
The Boulder County area of Colorado has a multitude of hiking and rock climbing opportunities due to the abundance of state and national parks preserving land and nearby mountain ranges. Hiking trails are abundant, ranging in all levels of difficulty from easy treks around Boulder Creek Path to more moderate or advanced hikes up through the Flatirons or Flagstaff Mountain. The parks with the best potential for hiking near our facilities include the picturesque Flatirons, Chautauqua Park, Eldorado Canyon, Flagstaff Mountain, and the Boulder Creek Path.
For novice rock climbers looking for a more challenging outdoor experience, Boulder County has several guided rock climbing tours that you can find online. For solo, experienced rock climbers, we would recommend Boulder Canyon, where many of the residents will go for an amateur rock climbing experience. The Canyon is nestled at the base of The Flatirons and provides a decent amount of rock formations that prove convenient for climbers.
Not only does Boulder provide several opportunities for rock climbing, but the region also has rope courses and zip line tours that provide more than enough entertainment for all ages. Wet and Wild
Having the Rocky Mountains next to our backyard has more than hiking. Boulder Creek and the nearby Boulder Reservoir provide ample opportunity to cool off from the warm, sunny days of summer. Boulder Creek offers commercial tubing and a wading pool area for visitors to relax and refresh in the local waters. The creek provides a lazy river experience that can help peel away the stressors that often build up during recovery from addiction.
For the more adventurous thrill-seekers, Boulder County also has some of the best rivers for whitewater rafting. The whitewater rafting tours range from novice to class 4 and 5 rapids (the highest rating being Class 5). You can easily find guided tours with a cursory google search, and we have listed a few companies affiliated with the Colorado State Tourism site below:

Substance use disorder (SUD) can disrupt the lives of those with addiction and those in their support network, often making it difficult to enjoy recreational activities. If you or someone you love is struggling with SUD, then Choice House has treatment services to help. We offer men the chance to build a new foundation of love and empathy as they achieve initial sobriety and learn skills needed to maintain sobriety once they return to life outside of treatment. Our programs include a 90-day inpatient service, an intensive outpatient program, and a sober living campus. Located in the Boulder County region of Colorado, our facilities sit within the foothills of the Rocky Mountain National Park. This proximity to the Rocky Mountains allows us to employ unique therapeutic modalities like our outdoor wilderness therapy. Men reconnect with themselves, nature, and fellow peers through physical activities like hiking, rock climbing, and kayaking.
