intensive outpatient program (IOP) for high-functioning clients
overview
Substance abuse affects people from all walks of life, but those with busy careers and personal lives don’t fit the stereotype of someone struggling with addiction. Yet despite appearing to have it all, many professionals use drugs or alcohol to cope with the stress of long work hours and a fast-paced lifestyle. While it might be possible to hide at first, the risk of dependency increases over time and can lead to a dangerous habit, eventually affecting job performance and the ability to manage daily responsibilities. But as addiction takes hold, many professionals are reluctant to seek help for fear of losing their career or reputation.
At Choice House, we know that drugs or alcohol might seem necessary to keep up with the competition in a culture that values ambition, success and tenacity, but the cost of addiction is a high price to pay. To help high-functioning men struggling with substance abuse achieve lasting recovery, we offer a flexible, specialized treatment program that balances the need for help with a busy lifestyle. Keep reading to learn how our intensive outpatient program (IOP) can help clients get sober without sacrificing their personal and professional lives.
For many people, the same traits behind personal or professional success can also lead to addiction. As individuals push themselves harder to achieve their goals, drugs and alcohol can become a crutch they rely on to deal with the stress and pressure of succeeding. But maintaining a career and other personal commitments leaves time for little else, making it difficult for many to attend a full-time recovery program.
That’s why we offer IOP for clients with busy lives. While residential treatment is often considered the gold standard when it comes to healing from addiction, we’ve found that IOPs deliver the same high-quality care in a more flexible setting. Instead of living on-site for weeks or months at a time, our IOP allows clients to remain at home and attend meetings or therapy sessions in the evening. Because this level of care doesn’t have an inpatient component, it gives clients the freedom to manage their daily responsibilities and continue working while enrolled in treatment.
Getting help isn’t always as easy as picking up the phone or completing an online assessment — the process can get complicated by career, reputation and confidentiality concerns, and many worry that rehab will interfere with their personal or professional lives. Choice House’s IOP can help clients navigate these issues with discreet, high-quality recovery solutions tailored to their needs. Our IOP for high-functioning individuals is located in Louisville, Colorado, and most suitable for the following clients who are in or around the Boulder, Lafayette, Longmont, Westminster, or Superior areas.
- Those with busy schedules
- Those with personal or professional obligations
- Those who want a more flexible treatment option
- Those who are high-functioning but still dependent on drugs or alcohol
- Those who are ready and willing to get sober
- Those who live within five to 15 miles
At Choice House, our experienced team of addiction and mental health experts can help clients decide if this program is right for them during the intake and interview process. Clients are assessed on a case-by-case basis, ensuring that we’re able to provide a highly therapeutic experience tailored to their unique needs.
In most cases, addiction and mental health are closely related. It isn’t easy to manage things like anxiety, depression or trauma without help, and some turn to drugs or alcohol to better cope with their symptoms. Professionals with busy lifestyles often deal with these and other issues due to high expectations and the stress of a demanding career. Left untreated, mental health problems can weigh heavily on the mind and impede the recovery process, but our goal is to help clients uncover the root of their issues and achieve a greater sense of well-being. With a dual license and a highly qualified team of therapists and clinical experts, Choice House is adept at managing co-occurring disorders and uses a variety of proven methods to address each individual’s physical, mental and emotional health needs. Some of the conditions that we treat include:
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)
- Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
- Schizophrenia
- Personality disorders
- Bipolar disorder
- Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
- Eating Disorders
Choice House’s IOP for professionals and high-functioning clients is located in Louisville, Colorado, just outside of Boulder. Programming takes place on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays in the evening, requiring just 10 clinical hours each week. Our flexible scheduling is designed to accommodate those with busy lifestyles to ensure that clients can continue to live at home, go to work and manage personal responsibilities during the day, but still benefit from the structure and support of a high-quality treatment program.
During treatment, clients participate in individual and group therapy sessions over a 12-week period. Our IOP curriculum explores new themes or topics each week and is designed to help individuals develop the coping skills they'll need to maintain a healthy lifestyle. As clients learn new strategies for staying sober, they’ll have the chance to use them in the real world and build a strong foundation for lasting recovery based on sound solutions.
Choice House therapists employ a number of modalities to help clients heal from addiction and get their lives back on track. We also offer outdoor adventure-based therapies, long-term residential treatment and structured sober living programs to complement or enhance IOP services. We know there’s more than one path to recovery, so our goal is to give clients the best possible treatment outcomes with programs tailored to their needs.
